Registration for St. Teresa’s 2019-20 Faith Formation program has begun. Parents can choose from three options for First Grade through 7th grade: Weekly classes, Home school, and Summer intensive. We are always in need of catechists and aides to serve our children and keep our program growing and vibrant. More catechists also means smaller classes for the children. Please contact me if you are interested. All volunteers in contact with children must be background checked and attend a Child Abuse Protection Seminar. The parish will reimburse the costs. The Faith Formation fee will be waived for those who volunteer as catechists or aides.

Our Summer Intensive Faith Formation Option will begin on Sunday June 23 with an afternoon session for parents and children (2:30-and ending with attendance at the 6PM mass). The session will continue through the week (children only): M-W-F- from 8:30-1:30 and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30-3:30PM. The classes will be held in Good Shepherd School. This option is open to parishioners entering grades 1 through 7. Please note that those children in 2nd grade will also be required to attend separate Sacramental Prep sessions in the fall for First Reconciliation and in the spring for First Eucharist.
This program will cover the same material that is covered in our traditional weekly classes. It will satisfy the class hour requirement for faith formation. Those who choose this option must also commit to attending 6 parish events held September through May. A list of the events will be given to parents in September and they can choose which events to attend. Failure to attend these events will result in a loss of credit for the grade and preclude the child from future summer intensive sessions. Additionally, the absentee policy will be very strict during these summer sessions. Children must commit to attending every day. There will be a very limited allowance for early dismissal and these instances must be approved prior to beginning the program.
Because of the intense time commitment, we will limit the number of children to 12 per classroom (provided we have enough catechists and aides). We are always in need of volunteers and those who can serve an aide or catechist will have priority for registering their children. Parents who volunteer for the entire session will have their Faith Formation fees waived. Families who participated in last year’s program and who have completed the intergenerational event requirement will also receive preference for the program.
PLEASE NOTE: THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR THE SUMMER OPTION WILL BE May 1. IF THE REGISTRATION NUMBERS EXCEEDS OUR CAPACITY, WE WILL PLACE NAMES IN A LOTTERY.
This model offers parents an opportunity to participate more fully in their child’s faith formation. Parents receive the home school lesson plans and work with their child each week. Parents attend 4 parent sessions during the course of the year. They receive upcoming lesson plans, submit assessment and review sheets from their child’s work, and participate in formation regarding the unit themes of the program. Families who opt for this model must commit to attending 6 parish intergenerational events held September through May. A list of the events will be given in September and parents can choose which events to attend.
This option is open to parishioners entering grades 1 through 7. Please note that those children in 2nd grade will also be required to attend separate Sacramental Prep sessions in the fall for First Reconciliation and in the spring for First Eucharist.
